We art the People in Your Neighborhood

"The People in Your Neighborhood" has been performed on Sesame Street many times, sung by many different characters. This song is about the various jobs that people have, with the jobs being different depending on the version of the song.

At the Center of Wonder, we have creatively re-interpreted this idea to sing a different tune. Local notables, and people that are well known by the community have been selected for local artists to paint. Full-size silhouettes of people have been cut out of construction waste (they look snazzy!) and are available for artists to pick up.

During the Fall Arts Festival, a cocktail party showcased 24 figures, one side depicting the character we are familiar with, while the other side will reveal a creative interpretation of the local notable.

All of the figures were auctioned off, generating over $4000 for local non-profits. Artists chose to retain up to 50% of the sale, and donate the remainder to a non-profit of their choice through Old Bills Fun Run.
