Snake River Fund - Snake River Float with 5th Graders

                                      Picture
On Tuesday May 25th, I joined Anita Moose's 5th grade class from Colter Elementary floating the Snake River. The trip is a part of the Snake River Fund's 5th Grade Snake River Float program, with generous assistance from Mad River Boat Trips. We saw lots of waterfowl, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and a large group of American White Pelicans. On the boats we discussed the Snake River watershed, the erosion power a river, and the importance of preserving watersheds. A highlight of the afternoon was our guide Eric allowing each student some time rowing the boat!

National Junior Ranger Day in Grand Teton National Park

On Saturday April 24th we partnered with the Teton Science Schools to provide free transportation to the Craig Thomas Discovery Center in Moose, WY for Junior Ranger Day. Children completed fun activities with park employees to earn Junior Ranger Badges, and large trucks and rescue equipment were available for hands-on inspection.

On Sunday February 28th, the Center of Wonder partnered with the Teton Mentor Project to take participants snowshoeing up at the Bradley Taggert Lake area in Grand Teton National Park.
Our day began at the Craig Thomas Discovery Center, where we learned about wildlife winter adaptations from a NPS interpreter, and checked out all the cool exhibits.
We visited the Murie Center to learn about the Murie legacy, and their resident bird biologist taught us about crossbills! We even got to see some crossbills up close, and learned about how biologists track the small unique birds using transmitters!
After lunch we followed animal tracks in the snow and discovered how fire changed the landscape on the Taggert Lake trail. We concluded our afternoon by hiking to Taggert Lake and enjoying the beautiful sunny day!
