Alpha Brain Waves?
Alpha Brain waves are produced while in a state of floatation. Hammocks enable the body to enter this state of mind which creates passive awareness, composure, and physical and mental relaxation. Emotional sensations in the alpha state include a sense of well being, pleasure and tranquility.
Hammocks in action
Go Hammocking is underway with custom printed designs adorning the hammocks. The mesh gently suspends the user above the ground, promoting relaxation and pondering the clouds and sky. Hammocks physically connect people to nature, tying onto trees and letting one float amongst the air in a contemplative state. Sounds Fun!
Apex Mills donation
Go Hammocking! is supported by Apex Mills, utilizing 2000 yards of mesh to create unique hammocks for the August Art Fair in Miller Park. Hammocks will be distributed for people to participate in a collective hang-out, or Float Field, on Snow King on August 16th from 1-6 pm. Why? Hammocks are relaxing and stimulate Alpha brain waves. Keep tuned for more information.
Go Hammocking!
Go Hammocking is inspired by Christo's Umbrellas Project, occurring in Japan and California for a period of two weeks. Over 2500 umbrellas were displayed, speckling hillsides and providing a visual reference to the landscape.
Hammocking is exploration, relaxation and contemplation on the natural world. Hammocking is an activity which compliments hiking, biking and every other outdoor sport. It provides a moment of peace and quiet that is hard to find in a busy world.
