Awaken Art
Part grassroots community art movement, part inspirational series, Awaken Art is the brainchild of musician Pete Sibley.
Awaken Art invites participants to say yes! to their most creative selves. In exchange for this yes! and committing to three meetings, Awaken Artists receive $100 and an inspiring artistic community for support. The group engages in projects & conversation designed to awaken art in their lives. No project is too small, no dream is too big. Awaken Art hopes to do nothing less than promote world peace through art, conversation, and creativity.
Digital Ambassador Carrie Richer recently made a short film about the project. Check it out!
Since its inception in Spring of 2011, Awaken Art has worked with 20 local artists--some professional, some taking the first steps in their creative exploration. Group 1 met from March 1 to April 18 and Group 2 met from June 6 to July 11. Each 6-week session features three 2-hour meetings and serves as an exploration in creativity.
